While driving to work today, NPR reported that today is Tom Waits' 60th birthday. In my view, Waits is one of the top five songwriters of my generation, possibly ranking as high as second after Dylan.
Check out his albums on the Tom Waits website, click on the album and then the song, and you'll see some remarkable words. I love all of his albums but my favorites are "The Heart of Saturday Night," "Nighthawks at the Diner," "Blue Valentine," and "Rain Dogs."
