RIP - Jerry Jeff and Billy Joe Shavers - Heaven's Songwriter Circle is Grown

As a learned friend summed it up this morning, "Jerry Jeff has finally got off that LA Freeway." Lover of the wisdom of old men, hard livers, bar life and great songs who sung his and those of others like no other. If you don't know his music, you are missing much. Check out "A Man Must Carry On." Four days after this posted initially, Billy Joe Shavers also crossed the river to join Jerry Jeff. Shavers wrote nine of the ten songs on one of the best 1070s albums of all time, Waylon Jennings' Honky Tonk Heroes, an album that we played very, very loud over and over when we first got it and still makes me smile when I hear one its songs.

This Book Says It All

Great book by a great writer. A book that needed to be written.

Who needs tell-alls from Anonymous, Mattis, Mary Trump, etc.?? This book says it all.

Read it, weep and share it with your friends.

(PS - I'm sorry this website is getting so political. It is hard not to be in these crazy times.)

Quote of the Day

This isn't original but it is appropriate:
"If you don't like wearing a mask, you are definitely not going to like a ventilator."

Foundation Trilogy by Isaac Asimov

I read my first science fiction book in the early 1970s when I read the first of the Foundation Trilogy recommended by a new college friend who shared my enthusiasm for books.

It started my appreciation and love for the genre.

I've just started re-reading it. Like my friendship with that college friend, it has held up well after all of these years.

Thank you my friend.
